This section of the website is designed to provide information, tips and advice on how to improve the effectiveness of tourism and leisure websites and web-pages.
At present, the section includes five articles offering tips and hints about how best to tweak your destination website. These include...
- Accommodation listings
- Events listings
- Design tips
- Visitor information (e.g. maps, guides and travel information)
- Keywords to use to get top billing in search engine results
Over time, we hope to add further articles covering a range of subjects relevant to tourism destination websites. Future articles will include:
- Search engine optimisation
- Web 2.0 (user generated content etc)
- Accessibility
Some of the information included in the articles is taken from a Web Toolkit originally produced by The Tourism Company for Visit London in 2007.
The aim of the original Toolkit was to provide practical advice to tourism staff within London’s 33 boroughs. However, the information presented here is applicable to anyone grappling with the challenge of making their tourism destination website more effective.
